The Xoom did connect just fine to my home WPA2 PSK network, Panera and will likely with any other common WiFi.

Several mobile phones that use Android were able to get around this using the WiFi Advanced Config Editor from the Market Place (similar to the App store), but this did not work on Xoom/Honeycomb.

After reading several posts, it looks like this may be a carry over problem from the Android v2.2 update which broke this exact issue. Although Honeycomb has the settings for 802.1x PEAP/MSCHAPv2 which is what MizzouWireless uses the MSCHAPv2 setting would not stay set. I still contend that the Xoom (Honeycomb) is better than the iPad or iPad2 all around.ġ. Over-all, even after getting the Xoom, setting it up for MU exchange which included calendaring and contacts then checking out websites specific work I was impressed. Why would I pay a tad less for an iPad when a more powerful iPad2 is out?. On top of that the video standards just took another hiccup after Google backed down from the current codec path.Ħ. HTML5 final spec has yet to be ratified and last I checked, even the latest version of Safari can't do all the things that HTML5 can do. The truth is, Today, almost everything I do is flash and I want my tablet to handle it now. I agree, some day, Flash may not be needed. Apple loves to tout HTML5 and how all it can do. Apple, well, you are going to do it the Apple way.ĥ. The possibility of programmers to alter the interface or better yet, giving the user greater customization opportunities exist. Honeycomb's interface is more smooth, styled for the larger screen and geared for a what I think a tablet should have. it just hasn't scaled for the added functionality/possibilities that the tablet grants. Folders are about as complex as you can get and it was built for the iPhone.
It's great for simplicity, but its just that. To be frank, the iPhone interface is pretty bland. We are all now well familiar and expect true multitasking which we get from our desktop/laptops, so it is extremely noticeable when you don't have it.Ĥ. which is more difficult, less consistent and why most have not added it. iOS's faux multitasking isn't a native tool set, so programmers must design and program it into their apps. Apple's iOS 'Simulates' multitasking by 'freezing' one app and switching to another, doing this as fast as possible or driven by user can give the appearance. Android Honeycomb allows for true multitasking. Being based on the Linux kernel, porting apps and the large, existing programmer base opt to enhance that divide even further.ģ.

Just like for every paid software for Mac OSX, there are at least 2 or more free versions and likely much better paid for version for Windows the possibility for the same divide between iOS and Android exists. Since Google has pushed for an Open relationship with no or little royalties to developers, the opportunity for Apps out-weigh Apple. Apple's A5 chip is a singularity and Apple is NOT a graphic hardware company.Ģ. They are about the same in CPU and battery life, but the NVIDIA Tegra chip is open and has the largest graphic company behind it. Better screen, better camera's, better port connections. The the iPhone/Apple die-hards are asking right off the bat, why didn't I just go with an iPad. Your needs may differ and thus your mileage vary. However, for work, specifically at MU, it fails on some major points and the iPad2 may currently be the way to go. A bit pricey ($599) but it ranks with the iPad2 32GB version and tablets are still young. I really liked the Xoom and it's implementation of Honeycomb (Android v3).
